Doctor Who has returned! We're already a quarter of the way through Series 8, and KC and Sue talked for nearly two hours about the first three episodes featuring the new Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi. Don't worry, though - it has been edited down to a much more manageable 52 minutes (or so).  Please remember that we both only saw each episode once and that these episodes are "first reactions" to the episode.  Don't expect too much analysis.  There will be some, however, because we just can't stop ourselves.

Hi, I'm Jen and this is Anomaly's first podcast episode about Outlander. I recently sat down with my sister and my mom to discuss the time traveling series written by Diana Gabaldon. We also talked about the first two episodes of the new television show that Gabaldon and Ronald D. Moore created, based on her novels. Alas, I don't have the Starz Channel, but my mom graciously offered to record them for me—it's good to have connections. A couple of weeks ago, I had a free weekend, so I  traveled seventy-five miles to watch them with her and my younger sister. It was our "girls' night". We shared a couple of  bottles of wine and some laughs as we talked late into the evening about why we enjoyed the series. It's a very good excuse to get together more often and I think we're going to make it a habit.

Welcome to our final installment of this year's Classic Who series! KC and I discuss the 1996 TV Movie simply titled "Doctor Who" and starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor.

We talk about why American content creators should not be trusted with a 30+ year old BBC property, the overuse of racial stereotypes and gang/gun violence, the Seventh Doctor's traumatic end, and the somewhat odd characteristics of the Eighth Doctor (like kissing random women, which stuck around, and telling people bits from their future, which didn't). We also discuss the Doctor's apparently questionable genetic makeup, and again ask the age-old question: Why does the Master have superpowers?

This month, while KC is busy a moving couple hundred miles, I was joined by Anomaly Correspondent and Staff Writer Sarah to talk about Jurassic Park.  From the very beginning, we had some particularly difficult issues with Skype, and even after correcting the audio as much as possible, Sarah still sounds a bit like she's in a fishbowl.  Apologies.

Along with favorite quotes/characters/scenes and John Williams's majestic score, we share stories of our first experiences with this movie, production trivia, comments from the Facebook group, and talk a little about the somewhat weighty themes of exploiting scientific advancement for monetary profit and attempted to control nature.

"I am Groot!"  In this edition of Anomaly, Angela and I review Guardians of The Galaxy. In short, the casting was great! The dialogue was clever, the comedy was non-stop awesome! And, as Gen Xers who both lived by the "awesome mix tape", as teenagers and young women, we both LOVED the soundtrack. It's definitely one to buy. We highly recommend you see this movie... now! You know the drill by now.  The end of July means it's time that KC and I talk about the Seventh Doctor, by way of "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy."  After some preliminary research, we put this serial out there as our frontrunner for viewing, and received no other suggestions.  But our uncontested winner turned out to be one of our favorite serials (featuring one of our favorite Doctors) in this project.

As usual, the conversation takes some diversions, into things like "Zoobilee Zoo" and cosplay.  

Additionally, we discuss what we have seen and heard so far regarding the upcoming Series 8, featuring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor.  Neither of us has read the leaked scripts, but we do speculate, so if you want to remain completely unspoiled regarding the next series, that discussion begins around 16:30.  We don't talk about anything else, so you can just skip the rest.
