  • Made For TV Horror

In this episode of Another '80s Podcast, we discuss a couple of made for TV horror movies in the form of 1985’s Deadly Messages and the 1981 classic Dark Night of the Scarecrow.  And it’s not just me waxing about these films.  We’ve got Joe and Graham from the awesome podcast, Films at First Sight, joining us.  We’ll be discussing not only the movies but whether there were made for tv constraints that affected them.  Would they have been better as feature films where the directors could have just let loose???  Take a listen and find out!!!

  • When TV Became An All Nighter

This mini episode we discuss that after midnight ritual where many TV stations packed it in for the night. Remember...that broadcast sign off, the national anthem, and a test pattern siren whose purpose was seemingly meant to penetrate our brains. Well there were legitimate reasons for TV to pause. That was until the '80s came along and the television landscape put up a neon sign reading "WE NEVER CLOSE!" How could this happen in just a few years? Mix a little technological advancement with a little relaxing of regulations and a HEAVY pour of Ted Turner and voila!!! If you've got 15 minutes, I'm your hook up on how it came to be!!!

  • '80s Trailers Review #1

Today, our topic is '80s trailers...in VIDEO!!! That's right! This is a video episode as I felt it was important to show the trailers on the docket. The episode works fine on it's own if your podcast platform doesn't have video as the audio of the trailers will come across just fine. But if you really want to check out the video, just head over to the Another '80s Podcast YouTube channel.

I'm going to be reviewing trailers for Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Death Wish 3, and The Right Stuff. The trailers couldn't be any more different from one another. But this isn't a comparison of the trio of trailers. It's a review of whether the trailers accurately depicted the finished movie. So here we go! Hope you enjoy!!!

  • The McDLT

On this episdoe of Another ’80s Podcast, we reconjure the McDLT, McDonald’s ambitious 1980s attempt to challenge the Whopper with a burger designed to keep “the hot side hot and the cool side cool.” From Jason Alexander’s unforgettable commercial to the oversized Styrofoam container that made the sandwich famous, the McDLT became a symbol of both fast-food innovation and environmental controversy. Join me for this 15 minute "mini" episode as we explore the rise and fall of this uniquely ’80s creation and why, decades later, fans still remember it with surprising affection.
