It’s May 11th and it’s episode 29 of our 4th season. welcome dear listener. I’m Paul and I am joined by Daz and Justin. We are here to talk about our last game - 1-0 over Brentford and then look ahead to the Leicester City fixture. Thanks for joining us.
Part One - Brentford at home 3rd at home in a week, but the next to last - lots to consider:
Before we talk about refereeing, let’s talk about the line up and the approach
Salah - ties the Gerrard record for goals. He’s been quietly brilliant.
TAA, big chances. A defensive performance - Jurgen 15/16 set pieces.
Brentford’s tactics - xG - 0.2. Response to Taylor or an over reliance on set pieces?
Ball in play - 43 mins, 10 secs - lowest for the Reds since records started in 2006
Leads to another Greater Manchester man conversation:
Every 50-50, the cards - Alisson! 19 fouls - the most since Klopp’s 3rd game in charge. Gakpo’s comment that it influenced how they played the game
Part Two - the National Anthem stuff
Only the usual suspects seem to be upset - Piers Morgan (‘pathetic’)
Eurovision looks way more fun
Part Three - Leicester and is this race really on?
FiveThirtyEight has us 29% to get Champions League - was 9% on Friday.
Leicester have over 3xG in their last 2 games, but their defense looks shot.
We have got the second phase corner thing looking good. 15? goals from corners, Leicester are the worst in the Premier League defending corners
Uniteds - Man and New - need 3 wins in 4 - for Newcastle 2 is probably enough
Elsewhere - the miracle of the Amex Community Stadium
We will be back sometime next week after the Leicester City game. Thanks to Daz.
