Just in time for Halloween - unlucky Episode 13! And with Charlotte in Covid Jail AKA self-isolation, we resort to Zoom (the horror!) to share our thoughts on the the best of pre-gentrified London. From the joys of the 'Pirates and Pilgrims' pub crawl to watching the sun set from the roof terrace of Alfie's Antiques via record shops with eccentric opening times and the elusive charms of Eel Pie Island, we talk you through our favourites sights and pints untouched by the man-bun-and-kombucha brigade. And in keeping with the curse of the number 13, the Zoom recording isn't always up to our exacting Niffler standards, but post-Hallows, rest assured that we will be back in person with our finest recording tech. Recorded 5th October 2021.
Finally after a year's hiatus, the Another Look at London gang are back to celebrate the best of London now that the city is starting to get back into the swing of things. And trust us, we have a lot to talk about! Recorded on 15th July 2021.
With the city in quarantine, many of London's small businesses and cultural institutions are coming up with ingenious ways to adapt and keep going in these challenging times. In this episode, we look at the best ways to support small local businesses from the comfort of your own home and get involved in the many creative digital activities on offer from your favourite London institutions. From online baking classes to tequila by post, pop up Instagram vintage sales, virtual tours and mobile cheese toasties, we’ve got plenty of top picks for making the most of lockdown while keeping safe and healthy.
In our 10th(!) episode (recorded in the heady days just before quarantine kicked in), we explore some of our favourite street markets in London, from the hustle and bustle of Ridley Road to the fashionista hot spots of Portobello and Brick Lane, floral nirvanas of Columbia Road and New Covent Garden and hidden gems like Wood Street and Lewisham….and much more! Just the tonic for Londoners pining for those relaxed Saturdays getting coffee and croissants in Borough Market and restless travellers dreaming of their next adventure. We miss you London, get well soon xx
In this episode, we talk about our favourite highlights of 2019, new hidden gems we've recently discovered (and a few of our old favourites that have sadly closed), and many, many exciting things we’re looking forward to in London in 2020.
