Damon Stanwell-Smith spent 3 years on the British Antarctic Survey base and since became an expert in remote-location research management in polar, temperate and tropical environments. He has worked in International marine consultancy for the United Nations Environment Program’s World Conservation Monitoring Centre and is is now head of Science and Sustainability for the Norwegian company Viking where he has spent the past 2 years creating first of their kind expedition ships. Damon shares insight around a career in conservation and how the wilderness - in particular Antarctica and the open sea - can shape us and teach us the very essence of our human nature.
