Ten days before Anthony Foxx was born, a U.S. Supreme Court case determined busing would be used to integrate Charlotte's schools.  Four decades later, Foxx would become the U.S. Secretary of Transportation under the Obama Administration. 

On this week's episode of Tying it Together with Tim Boyum, Foxx, who also served as Charlotte’s mayor from 2009-2013, talks about the role transportation and infrastructure played in systemic racism and how building for the future could help reverse past mistakes.

Later, Foxx also talks about the time he was President Barack Obama's designated survivor, and whether he has interest in running for public office again.
