Welcome to the age of specialisation. Whereas once we could be generalists, having a wide range of knowledge and applying it across multiple fronts, now we are focused and see in part while struggling to appreciate the whole. This is connected to the times in which we live. Why know anything about plumbing when we can call a guy? Computer has a problem? Call a guy. Chicken that needs killing? Call a gal. Human beings in the age of modernity have the luxury of money to pay for things and so our threshold of ignorance has been raised. We can afford to not know things in a literal sense.

The rate of Divorce in Zambia seems to be on the decline. Today we talk about why things are not as they seem concerning the rates of divorce as well as the reason your new years resolutions are doomed to fail

Most of us are aware sex has been cheapened though I am not sure we have thought through the how and the why quite as much. So what has been broken and why is the solution not found in more Sex Education? Or Comprehensive Sexuality Education as it is more commonly called today.

I have written on similar matter before. The blog post can be found here. It's time believers stood for something positive rather than screaming in the corner like a maligned child whose toy has been taken away.

Boring topic, I know. So why bring it up?

The "New Dawn Government" has withdrawn the subsidy on Petroleum based products and will do the same to electricity prices in 2021

Before you remove something you should first find out why it was put in place

Rather than get into the history of the different subsidies I will instead take a large step back and discuss the worldview of subsidies. But in order to understand subsidies we must first understand prices.

So if prices are the conveyance of information then subsidies are, as one person put it, the equivalent of make up on the face. It covers blemishes. This is not always wrong. And this is the crux of the argument. A good subsidy program is temporary.

A good example is the relationship of parents to their children. Parents are to temporarily subsidize the life and lifestyle of their children. Entitlement is the result of a continuous subsidy on the life of the child. This is why you get people over the age of 18 still riding the coat tails of their parents even to the extent of having their bills being paid for.

So the problem is not that the subsidy exists. God created a world such that subsidies can be a good things but they were never meant to be permanent. To show this we look at our relationship with God. God created us and truly, in him we live and move and have our being but he does not subsidize our existence. Actions have consequences and as we feel the consequences we are able to course correct.

Think worldview rather than narrow. The world is on a mission to convince you subsidies and social welfare programs are the way forward, but this is far from the truth. Reject the lie and see what is really happening. Bad things happen when people are permanently insulated from the effects of their actions

Education is the new Jesus. Parents are convinced it will save their children from a damning life and lifestyle. All that matters is that they get a good education and good education means more of the same. The same education that has brought us tyranny, high suicide rates, the illusion of work-life balance is looked at as the saviour. We are fools!
