Peter teaches the exiled Christians how they are to live in such a way that would glorify God in the midst of a culture that does not share its values.

After addressing why Christian exiles can have joy in difficult circumstances, Peter then challenges them to live lives that are separate and distinct. Lives that will reflect the holiness of their Heavenly Father.

Peter writes to a group of Christians living in exile. Though there is nothing joyful about their circumstances, Peter begins his letter by telling them why they have reason for exceeding joy.

Job finally hears from God. What he hears is not an answer to his questions, but a picture of who God is.

Elihu, Job's fourth friend on the scene, speaks truth into the confusion the previous three friends had created. Elihu teaches us why suffering is for God's glory and our good.

Job shows us that our response to pain and suffering has great potential to give glory to God, even more so than a life of ease and comfort.

The book of Job starts by describing Job's life. Not only does he provide an example of godliness for us, but Job's righteousness also sets up the confusion centered around the great tragedy that is about to occur in his life.

Paul closes his letter with final comments regarding a collection to be taken up for the saints in Jerusalem, who were experiencing a famine. From his instructions, we see the motive behind Christian generosity: grace.
