Antioch Georgetown

Abimelech’s story is a tragic mess. Driven by selfish ambition, he conspires to seize power by murdering his seventy brothers. He is godless, ruthless, and self-serving—and that dangerous combination brings destruction to everyone under his leadership.

In Judges 9, Pastor Andy uses the story of Abimelech to show how godless leaders become dangerous leaders. What happens when a leader has ambition without character, power without love, or courage without restraint? The result is always ruin.

In this episode of Growing Forward, Pastor Andy Comer unpacks Jesus’s teaching in John 15 on the vine and branches and shows you how to read Scripture wide, deep, and in context so your life is truly rooted in Christ!

Life has a way of throwing the unexpected at us. Through our own decisions, the choices of others, or circumstances beyond our control, we often find ourselves asking, “How did I get here?” But instead of focusing on the past, the better question is, “Where do I go from here?”

As we continue exploring the life of Gideon, we’ll see how God led him step by step through a series of tests: the purity test, the truth test, and the trust test. Together, we’ll discover how God patiently guides us toward the next step in our own lives.

In Judges 6, the Lord meets Gideon and calls him a “valiant warrior.” Yet Gideon doesn’t look the part—he appears fearful and uncertain. While Gideon is focused on changing his circumstances, God is focused on changing his identity.

Today, we’ll explore how the Lord is still at work within us, transforming our hearts and shaping us into valiant warriors who live on mission with Him.

In this episode of Growing Forward, Pastor Andy Comer and Pastor Lyle Castellaw discuss how pastors can finish well in ministry by staying rooted in Jesus, avoiding burnout, and cultivating healthy rhythms of rest and refreshment. They also unpack the hidden struggles many pastors face and how churches can pray for, support, and practically encourage their leaders.

Today, we journey with a judge named Ehud. With no army, no funding, and no conventional strategy, he appears to be the ultimate underdog against a powerful big dog. Yet through his life, we see how God uses Ehud’s left hand as His upper hand to deliver Israel from the Moabites. It’s an inspiring story of how God uses the weak to defeat the strong.

Listen as Pastor Andy shares three types of people the Lord loves to use.
