Marriage is designed by God as a picture of Christ and the church. Divorce is a tool to be used in pursuit of repentance and reconciliation. Unrepentant adultery is the only grounds for divorce, and remarriage is always adulterous.

Adultery is covenant unfaithfulness of the body, but also of the mind, and the affections. It's an unfaithfulness that pervades the whole person and leads to destruction. Therefore we must be willing to take radical measures to put to death the old man, and walk in purity of heart.

Murder is a sin of the heart that is only rarely carried out in full, though often begun in word or facial expression. The Law calls us to recognize our guilt before God, and apply ourselves to seeking peace with our brother.
