A New Year’s look at 2017 and how we can be expectant for God to expand our capacity.

We’re so familiar with the Christmas story that we often forget the incredible humility that Jesus demonstrated when He became a man.  Nor do we appreciate the extremely humble circumstances He chose to be born into.  But Jesus life, from beginning to end, is a model of what humility is really like.

If God is love, and Jesus came to show us what God is like, then everything Jesus does is a demonstration of the love of God. However, that love can look very different depending on who He’s engaging with.

Many people wonder, ‘Was Jesus faking it? Since He was God, did He just float through life without having to really deal with any of its difficulties?’ But the Bible makes it clear that Jesus did what He did as a man, not as God. Therefore, we have a great High Priest who understands the challenges of life in this broken world and offerers mercy and grace where we need it most.

For centuries, people have been debating whether Jesus was just a man, or something more. Part of this was due to His reluctance to reveal His secret identity. But the Gospels tell of times He clearly revealed Himself to be the Son of God. The question all of us must answer is: do you believe Him?
