As we draw near to Easter, we reflect on the unexpected scene of the Savior who suffered and died on a Roman cross. Even Jesus' closest followers thought it was the moment of ultimate defeat, no one understood that it was actually the moment of ultimate victory — when sin is defeated and the barrier between us and God removed. That’s why, as Paul said, 'we preach Christ crucified’.

So now that we’ve completed our in-depth look at spiritual gifts, what do we do? In the Parable of the Talents, Jesus makes it clear we’re going to be held accountable for what we do with what we’ve been given. Therefore, it’s important for every Christian to discern, develop, and deploy their spiritual gifts.

We’re all called to have faith, to pray for healing, and believe that God can do the impossible. But what is the difference between these things, which all Christians are called to do, and the spiritual gifts of faith, healing, and miracles?

Tongues is certainly one of the most controversial spiritual gifts, and yet, it is the gift that God used to birth the church at Pentecost. Thankfully, the Bible gives clear instructions about the purpose and the use of this powerful gift.

One of the ways God empowers the church is through providing situation-specific guidance. As we continue to look at the power gifts, we look at how the gifts of the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, and the discernment of spirits provide both guidance for difficult circumstances and help set people free.
