For some Christians, anxiety and depression are signs of a lack of faith, yet the storyline of Scripture includes faithful people who wrestled with these experiences. In different ways, the presence of anxiety or depression challenges us to go deeper in our understanding of who God is and who we are. Furthermore, the Scriptures invite us to bring our pain to God, so that we can discover his strength in the midst of our brokenness.
