In this episode of Any Percent: Movies, the boy talk about Pulgasari, a 1985 dark fantasy-action kaiju movie straight out of North Korea (yes, really). The story behind this one is insane, let me tell you. The director of the film, Shin Sang-Ok, had been kidnapped in 1978 by North Korean intelligence on the orders of Kim Jong-il, son of the then-ruling Kim Il-sung. He was then coerced into making several films as a director, with Pulgasari being his final before he and his wife, actress Choi Eun-hee, escaped to the United States. Crazy right?
Instead of explaining what itself is about, I'll just let a random internet guy tell you.
"In feudal Korea, the evil King becomes aware that there is a peasant rebellion being planned in the country. He steals all the iron farming tools and cooking pots from the people so that he may make weapons to fend off the peasant army. After he returns the property to the people, an old blacksmith is imprisoned and starved to death. His last creation is a tiny figurine of a monster- Pulgasari, a Godzilla-like creature that eats iron. The blood of his daughter brings the creature to life, and fights with the poor, starving peasants to overthrow the corrupt monarchy." Thanks random guy!
We also talk about some of our "comfort food" movies that never get old, which basically turns into us rambling about Digimon and Jack Black.

Hosts:
In this episode of Any Percent we talk about The Departed, a 2006 American crime thriller film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by William Monahan. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg. In this movie, everyone is a rat and the accents are ridiculous.
"The film takes place in Boston. Irish Mob boss Francis "Frank" Costello (Nicholson) plants Colin Sullivan (Damon) as a mole within the Massachusetts State Police; simultaneously, the police assign undercover state trooper William "Billy" Costigan (DiCaprio) to infiltrate Costello's crew. When both sides realize the situation, Sullivan and Costigan each attempt to discover the other's identity before they are found out."
The Departed was a critical and commercial success, and won several awards, including four Oscars at the 79th Academy Awards, for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing, becoming Scorsese's only win for Best Director;[6] Wahlberg was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
