API Community Expression, Fostering Creativity for Social Change
This week on Apex, hosts Rainjita Geesler and Eloise Rose-Lee highlight creative community movements.
EBAYC’s Streetside Productions join us. Peter Kim, the Project Coordinator and Streetside Youth Producers feature the stories they are telling and the positive impacts that learning digital tools has had on their lives.
Also, members from the Hawaiian Civic Club, Ka Lei Maile Ali’i join us to talk about their upcoming performance of Ka Lei Maile Ali’i – The Queen’s Women, about Native Hawaiian resistance to U.S. annexation and colonization. The play, written by Helen Edith "Didi" Lee Kwai, is based on newspaper accounts of the time, and features Hawaiian music, culture and political resistance! This is your opportunity to hear about this rare Bay Area performance!
