In this episode we wrap up our review of the White/Flowers debate on John 6:44. This is where the debate really gets heated, and especially Dr. Flowers kind of loses his cool and he departs substantially from the topic of the debate and wanders off into subjects to toss choice red meat to his base. We looked at the concept of being set free from sin and becoming a slave of righteousness in Romans 6:15-23...and we discover that Paul's autobiographical description in Romans 7:14-25 fits this description. We talk about true repentance and other related issues.

This is where the debate gets interesting.

In this episode, we continue our study of what Paul means when he says we "died to sin". To do this I show how Paul explains the indicatives of 6:1-14 in 7:1-13. We go over the marraige analogy that Paul works from and we see Paul's own experience of dying to sin.

In this episode, we continue our review of the John 6:44 debate between Flowers and White. We finish up Dr. Flowers opening statement, and look at his use of John 10, John 3 and his understanding of how John 6:45 and his interpretation of it is to be read back into the entirety of John 6:35-44. 
Next time we will begin looking at the cross examination period.

We continue working through an article written by Christopher Bounds entitled "How Are People Saved? The Major Views Of Salvation With a Focus On Wesleyan Perspectives And Their Implications" . In this episode we read Bounds short section describing Augustinianism. Then we spend the rest of the time reading the sources cited. We read a sectioen from Augustine's Enchiridion, the Westminster Confession, Calvin's Institutes, and a statement by the LCMS (Lutheran Church MIssouri Synod) Of the Election of Grace.

In this new episode of our study of the book of Romans, we introduce a very important but very difficult section of Romans: chapters 6 and 7. Here we lay the groundwork for future episodes, by talking about the relationship of these two chapters, looking at Paul's understanding of the role of the Law, and talking about the difference between the indicative and the imperative.
