  • God's Existence and Knowability: Modern Critics (Part One)
(AI Generated Summary) This lesson examines David Hume's philosophical critiques of classical apologetics, specifically targeting the teleological argument for design and the logical dilemma of evil. It surveys various theological responses to these challenges, ranging from the concept of evil as a privation of good to the assertion that God ordains all things while remaining morally blameless. The central message emphasizes that human moral standards are finite and must submit to God's infinite nature and sovereign decrees. Scripture passages such as Romans 8:28 and Acts 2:23 illustrate how evil serves God's ultimate purposes without compromising His goodness. The tone is instructional, aiming to provide a robust theological framework for understanding divine sovereignty amidst the existence of suffering.

  • Why I Believe The Bible
The sermon addresses the growing anti-intellectualism in the church by arguing that a robust faith requires rigorous mental engagement with Scripture. It refutes inadequate reasons for believing the Bible, such as upbringing or personal experience, and instead presents historical evidence, eyewitness testimony, fulfilled prophecy, and divine authority as the foundation for trust in God's Word. Drawing primarily from 2 Peter 1, the speaker emphasizes that Christianity is anchored in real historical events rather than myths. The message challenges believers to reject intellectual laziness and embrace honest inquiry, asserting that truth withstands careful investigation. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a confident, reasoned commitment to the Bible as the authoritative revelation of God.

  • God Needs Nothing: His Self-Sufficiency and Our Security
God is not sustained, strengthened, completed, or supplied by anything outside Himself. He needs nothing because He is eternally and completely sufficient in Himself. In this episode of Equipping You in Grace, Dave Jenkins examines the self-sufficiency of God from Acts 17:24–25 and Psalm 50:10–12. He explains why God's independence does not make Him distant or uncaring. Instead, it makes His love, strength, faithfulness, and care completely secure. Because God is never depleted, weakened, or overwhelmed, Christians can rest in the truth that they are not sustaining God or holding His purposes together. The God who needs nothing is the God who freely loves, provides for, and faithfully sustains His people through Jesus Christ. Listeners will learn how God's self-sufficiency frees them from performance, strengthens their trust in Him, and leads them into reverent worship.
