Apologetics on SermonAudio

The Bible does not merely give Christians isolated truths. Scripture gives us the true story of reality: creation, fall, redemption, and consummation. In this Weekly Watch episode of Contending for the Word, Dave Jenkins explains how this biblical storyline shapes the Christian worldview and helps believers think clearly in a confused age. This episode considers why reality begins with God, why the world is broken because of sin, why redemption comes through Christ alone, and why Christians can live with stability and hope as they await the return of Christ. What gives human life value? Our culture often points to intelligence, ability, achievement, status, or usefulness. Scripture gives a very different answer: every person possesses inherent dignity because every person is made in the image of God. In this episode of Contending for the Word Q&A, Dave Jenkins explains Genesis 1:26–27 and considers what it means for humanity to reflect and represent God, relate to Him, and live under His authority. Sin has distorted humanity, but it has not erased the image of God. Through Christ, believers are being renewed to reflect God more clearly. This truth shapes how Christians understand their own value, treat others with dignity, and respond to cultural ideas that reduce human worth to performance or identity labels. (AI Generated Summary) This lesson critiques René Descartes' rationalist approach to proving God's existence, arguing that starting with skepticism rather than faith undermines true knowledge. It contrasts philosophical arguments with the biblical principle that the fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom and reliable epistemology. The speaker emphasizes that human reason alone is insufficient due to the effects of sin and must be subordinate to divine revelation. Instead of relying on evidentialist proofs, the preacher advocates for presuppositional apologetics, which exposes the irrationality of opposing worldviews. Ultimately, the message asserts that only the proclamation of the gospel can effectively change hearts and minds.
