Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story

Things are starting to go from bad to worse in Vault 63 where our group of Wasteland survivors start to feel even more pressure not only from the raging inferno outside and the pervasive goading of Mr. Dark- but another more imminent and dire threat from the one that calls the vault his home; a home he’ll do anything to protect as Xander continues to tell the group’s story.

As Xander continues his story, we find the group splitting up to tackle two avenues of investigation to see what they can find out about Dr. Blackburn’s experiments and Archie’s origins from his original programming. As Gina leads Xander and Rabbit on a return expedition to Arktos and its inner sanctum (not to mention surprise inhabitants), Robin and Bryce escort Archie to Lewisburg, unsure of what exactly they’re looking for until they have a chance encounter that may set their trajectory on a course they didn’t expect.

Meanwhile, Eddie finds himself even further on the outside of the Hellcats in the wake of the events in Vault 96 with a little nudge from a “secret informant”- which sets a course for him that may be hard, if even possible, to come back from. Sometimes, though, running into some old friends is just what someone needs to remind them of who they want to be.

With Rabbit’s whereabouts known, Xander rallies what troops he can to explore the mysterious Vault 96... but who might they encounter along the way? Who knows? And does the party have the skills they need to infiltrate Vault 96, rescue Rabbit, and escape?

Meanwhile, Trixie reveals something important that she has learned from the holotape that she and Eddie stole months ago. In an effort to smooth things over between her and Gina, she agrees to share this information with her, Archie, and Robin. Robin, wanting to know more about Archie’s apparent connections to the mysterious Bysshe Corporation, sticks around to learn whatever she can and picks up some very interesting information.

Back in the future, in Vault 63, a new threat begins to emerge from the shadows. What are this mysterious man’s intentions, and is he more dangerous than the sinister Mr. Dark?

A week can be a long time; that’s how long Rabbit has been missing following his surprisingly uneventful apprehension by Eddie Brooks and his mysterious new employers. Worried about the whereabouts of his companion and fearing the worst, Xander embarks on a seemingly fruitless search and seeking the aid of the Five-O New Responders, he meets with Bryce and many others to find whatever leads he can and learns that help comes in unexpected forms.

Meanwhile, Gina and Archie are having difficulties of their own. Following his repair, Archie has been experiencing some unexpected malfunctions that lead him and his friends on a chase to uncover secrets of the past.

And in a secret, undisclosed location, Rabbit finds himself finally coming to and coming face to face with someone with deeper ties to his past than he’s comfortable with. Who is the mysterious person who ordered his apprehension and what are their plans?

We’re back! We may have taken a brief break, but we’ve returned with a new SPECIAL for you all. With over ten hours of story already having been told in the form of eight main episodes and two minisodes, we thought that this might be a good time to look back on what’s happened so far. We chose this for two main reasons: to give those of you who have been listening regularly a convenient recap as we move into the latter portion of our first season, and to give those who haven’t listened a good jumping off point if they’d like to start now.

Worry not, this isn’t a clip show. This small story sees our Vault Dwellers discussing not only the events that have transpired since Reclamation Day but also sees them discussing a bit of what their lives were like back in Vault 76. Come for the recap and stay for new tidbits of information about the characters.

As of this posting, the script for episode 9, titled “We’re Hunting Rabbit,” has been fully written and is being recorded, and the script for episode 10 is over halfway written. We plan to return soon to reveal what’s been happening with our Vault Dwellers since the day that Rabbit was carried off by Eddie Brooks and his mysterious new “employers.”

Those words are a warning to any who might wander into the Mountainside Bed and Breakfast nestled in the mountains along Highway 102. During the first Halloween out of the vault, Rabbit and his friends (among others) try to have a nice fun night of friendship, board games, and the occasional snack. Little do they know that their choice of venue hides a dark secret.

This is the second planned “minisode” of Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story. For this story we look at what happened during the first Halloween outside of Vault 76 directly before the events of “The Halloween Where Nothing Happened,” the episode of CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story that introduced first introduced Xander and Rabbit. This tale is set between the events of episode 7 and episode 8 in the timeline.

Season 1 - Episode 08: Of Rabbits and Robots

Far in the future, deep within the dark and increasingly shrinking confines of Vault 63, Xander seeks a brief reprieve in the nebulous bathroom created by Mr. Dark. This respite is short lived however, and he resumes the story that began several years prior. Unknown to him and the other survivors of the fires above ground they weren’t the only ones who had made it into Vault 63.

While working on some projects for customers of the workshop Xander, Gina, and Archie plan a trip to RobCo Research Center to seek out parts and plans that might help bolster the shop’s defenses. Along the way they learn that Archie seems to be suffering from some peculiar abnormalities in his memory.

Meanwhile Eddie meets with a mysterious and potentially dangerous new employer who has an assignment that he simply can’t turn down. Who are these mysterious employers? What might this assignment be? What impact will his actions have on those around him?

Some of these questions just might be answered.

Everyone is beginning to find their place in Appalachia, but how long will they be able to maintain their footing before things are shaken up?

“What the hell is a Dieathalon?”

That’s the question on the lips of spectators and participants alike as the spotlights shine on Chad Johnson in the mezzanine of Top of the World. Picking up after the events of “Perk Problems - Part 1,” this episode reveals what happened to Xander and the gang (and Eddie) after their encounter with Chad, Moose, and Punch at their “Vault 69 Gym.” The group will be getting their steps in as they are subjected to a special kind of competition that they didn’t sign up for.

In the future, time begins ticking away in Vault 63 as outside forces try to break their way into the Overseer’s Office where the gang has taken refuge from the electrified ghouls. As the dust settles, Mr. Dark gets a story that he may not have anticipated in his search for what he wants.

As the gang tells their story, they recount a particular trip to the Vault 69 Gym. Despite some reservations, the gang has their own individual reasons for checking it out- and some of them are presented with various dangerous challenges by its proprietor: the one and only Chad Johnson.

Picking up immediately where the previous episode ends, we now find out what ultimately happened to Xander on the way back from the Landview Lighthouse. As things unfold and night turns to day Bryce and Robin seek out Snallygasters, Trixie learns something that sounds important, and Rabbit copes with the aftermath of the night before.

As light is shown on one of the stranger, more morbid truths of the dwellers of Vault 76 other mysteries are bubbling up behind the scenes, and even in the far future Mr. Dark hears a small piece of what he seems to be searching for in Xander's tale.
