Apparently, We're Adults episodes

  • Ep 60: Apparently, Adulthood is being scared and doing it anyway

“Maybe adulthood was never about finally having everything figured out. Maybe it’s about learning to trust ourselves enough to figure it out as we go.” --Angela

In This Episode, We Talk About:

    • Why Mama, Let’s Talk is becoming Apparently, We’re Adults and why I’m ready to expand the conversation from motherhood to womanhood.
    • The strange realization that becoming an adult doesn’t magically mean you know what the hell you’re doing.
    • How fear and imposter syndrome kept me from learning new skills in my career and the moment I realized avoiding discomfort was costing me more than facing it.
    • Why saying “I don’t know,” “I need help,” and “teach me” might actually be some of the strongest, most grown-up things we can say.

Welcome to Apparently, We’re Adults, the same honest conversations you loved from Mama, Let’s Talk, just with a little more room at the table. In this first episode of the new chapter, I’m talking about why I stepped away, why I almost didn’t come back, and why I realized I wasn’t done talking, I was just ready to talk about more. Motherhood will always be part of the conversation, but so will all the other things nobody exactly prepared us for.

I’m also sharing one of the biggest lessons I’ve been learning lately: growth requires being willing to look like a beginner. I’m opening up about fear and imposter syndrome in my career, avoiding the things I didn’t know how to do, and finally deciding that being uncomfortable was better than staying stuck. Because maybe growing up isn’t about reaching some magical point where we finally know everything. Maybe it’s getting comfortable saying, “I don’t know yet, but I’m willing to learn.” And apparently, that might be what being an adult looks like after all.

  • Ep 59: You're Not Overreacting, You're Overloaded

"The moment didn't create the reaction. The moment revealed how full your bucket already was." --Angela

In this episode, listeners will learn:

    • What decision fatigue actually is and why moms are especially vulnerable to it
    • Why small frustrations can trigger big reactions when your mental and emotional bandwidth has been drained throughout the day.
    • How the invisible mental load impacts your patience, energy, and emotional regulation, even when it looks like you're "doing fine" on the outside.
    • A simple mindset shift and practical tool to help you respond with more self-compassion and less guilt when you feel yourself reaching your limit.

In this episode, I'm talking about something almost every mom experiences but few of us recognize while it's happening: decision fatigue. If you've ever found yourself snapping over missing shoes, the dinner question, or hearing "Mom" one too many times, this conversation is for you. I'm sharing a real-life story from my own parenting journey and unpacking why those seemingly small moments can trigger such big reactions.

Together, we'll explore the invisible mental load so many mothers carry every day, the hidden cost of being the family problem-solver, and why exhaustion often disguises itself as irritation. Most importantly, I'll share a simple reframe that has helped me move from self-criticism to self-compassion. Because chances are, you're not failing, you've just been carrying more than your mind and body were ever meant to hold alone.

  • Ep 58: The Quiet Funk Nobody Talks About

"Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is stop treating ourselves like a project that needs fixing and start treating ourselves like a person who needs care." --Angela

In this episode, listeners will learn:

    • Why feeling stuck, unmotivated, disconnected, or "off" doesn't mean something is wrong with you.
    • The hidden habits that keep us trapped in a funk longer than necessary.
    • Simple, practical ways to start creating momentum again without overhauling your entire life.
    • How to reconnect with yourself and rediscover who you're becoming in this season of motherhood.

Have you ever looked around at your life and thought, "Why don't I feel like myself anymore?" In this episode, I'm opening up about a season I've recently walked through myself, a season where I felt disconnected, exhausted, and stuck despite doing all the things I was supposed to be doing. From the outside everything looked fine, but internally I knew something felt off. If you've been wondering why you're struggling to find motivation, joy, or energy lately, this conversation is for you.

Together, we'll talk about why so many women find themselves in a funk, what keeps us stuck there, and the small shifts that can help us move forward. I'll share personal experiences, practical tools, and a reminder that you don't need to become a completely different person to feel better. Sometimes the journey isn't about getting back to who you used to be... it's about reconnecting with who you're becoming.

"The rides are amazing, but some of the best memories happen when you're not rushing to the next one. They're found in the conversations, the unexpected moments, the laughter, and the experiences you can't really plan for." --Angela

In this episode of Mama, Let's Talk, I sit down with Olivia and Amelia to relive our recent family adventure to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and EPCOT. We share our favorite rides, funniest moments, biggest surprises, and the vacation strategies that made the trip feel fun instead of stressful. From Harry Potter wand experiences and Hogwarts Express to Express Passes and resort perks, we're giving you our honest review of what was worth it and what we'd do again.

If you're planning a Universal or Disney vacation, or just love hearing family travel stories, this episode is packed with practical tips, laughs, and reminders that connection matters more than a perfectly planned itinerary.

  • Ep 56: You Go First, Mama

"Confidence isn’t ‘I never feel fear.’ Confidence is ‘I trust myself enough to do it anyway.'" --Angela

In this episode, listeners will learn:

    • Why our daughters learn more from how we live than what we say
    • How confidence is built through action, not perfection or external approval
    • The powerful connection between healing ourselves and raising emotionally secure girls
    • Why letting our kids see us try, fail, evolve, and grow may be one of the greatest gifts we can give them

In this episode of Mama, Let’s Talk, I’m diving into something that hit me deeply after hearing Mel Robbins speak live, the realization that so many women don’t fully step into themselves until their 30s, 40s, or even later. And it made me ask the question I think so many of us quietly carry: how do we help our daughters grow up believing in themselves now instead of spending decades doubting who they are?

I share a very real (and very chaotic) story about traveling to Olivia’s gymnastics meet that unexpectedly became a lesson in emotional regulation, resilience, and the kind of energy our kids absorb from us every single day. We talk about confidence, motherhood, healing, identity, and what it really means to become the kind of woman our daughters can learn from through example.

  • Ep 55: One Year of Mama Wisdom

"You do not have to do motherhood perfectly to do it beautifully" --Angela

In this episode, listeners will learn:

    • Why motherhood was never meant to be carried alone, and how leaning on other women can change everything
    • How letting go of perfection can create safer, healthier relationships with our children
    • The importance of regulating ourselves emotionally before trying to regulate our kids
    • Why so much of motherhood is learning to savor the season you’re in while also giving yourself grace through the hard parts

Powerful Quote From the Episode“I think part of motherhood is constantly learning how to hold gratitude and exhaustion in the same hand.”

    —or—

“You do not have to do motherhood perfectly to do it beautifully.”What Listeners Will Learn
    • Why motherhood was never meant to be carried alone — and how leaning on other women can change everything
    • How letting go of perfection can create safer, healthier relationships with our children
    • The importance of regulating ourselves emotionally before trying to regulate our kids
    • Why so much of motherhood is learning to savor the season you’re in while also giving yourself grace through the hard parts

    Episode Overview

In this special Mother’s Day episode, and one-year anniversary celebration of Mama, Let’s Talk, I invited moms to share the best motherhood advice they’ve ever received, along with the things they wish someone would have told them sooner. What came back was so much more than parenting tips. It was raw honesty, healing, humor, wisdom, and women reminding other women that none of us are doing this alone.

Together, we talk about everything from perfectionism and mom guilt to emotional regulation, support systems, identity, and the bittersweet reality that every season of motherhood eventually passes. Some of these stories will make you laugh, some might make you cry, but most of all, I hope this episode makes you feel seen, supported, and reminded that you are already enough exactly as you are.

  • Ep 54: How to Get Out of Survival Mode (Without Changing Your Whole Life)

“You’re not exhausted because you’re doing life wrong… you’re exhausted because you’ve been living in survival mode for so long, it started to feel normal.” --Angela

In this episode, listeners will learn:

    • How to recognize the subtle signs of survival mode
    • Why constantly pushing through isn’t a discipline issue, but a nervous system pattern
    • The hidden ways survival mode creates disconnection from yourself, your kids, and your life
    • Simple, realistic shifts to step out of autopilot and start feeling present again

In this episode, I’m talking about something so many of us are living in… but rarely name out loud: survival mode. The kind that doesn’t always look like chaos, but feels like constantly rushing, reacting, and just trying to keep up. I share what this actually looks like in real life, why we get stuck there, and why it has nothing to do with you not doing enough.

I'm giving you small, doable ways to start stepping out of that constant “go” and back into yourself... without needing to change your entire life. Because this isn’t about doing less… it’s about feeling more present inside the life you’re already living.

  • Ep53: Unfiltered with an 8 Year Old

“Sometimes what our kids are really asking for isn’t to be corrected or redirected… it’s just to feel seen exactly as they are in that moment.” --Angela

In this episode, listeners will learn:

    • Kids don’t need perfect parenting, they need presence, patience, and to feel understood
    • The small, everyday moments (talking, laughing, doing things together) matter more than we think
    • How sarcasm, rushing, or dismissing can unintentionally make kids feel unheard
    • That kids are far more aware, and more honest about their needs, than we give them credit for

In this episode, I invited my 8-year-old daughter, Amelia, onto the podcast with zero prep… and what unfolded was equal parts hilarious, chaotic, and unexpectedly meaningful. Through her unfiltered honesty, she gave us a real look into what kids are actually thinking, from what makes a perfect day to what frustrates them most about adults.

But underneath the laughter and playful moments, there’s a deeper reminder woven through it all. Our kids don’t need us to over-explain, fix everything, or get it “perfect.” They just want connection. They want to feel heard, understood, and chosen in the middle of our busy lives, and sometimes, the simplest moments are the ones that matter most.

  • Ep 52: The Truth Kids Won’t Tell Their Parents (But Olivia Will)

“Sometimes what our kids need most isn’t a better answer… it’s just feeling understood.” --Angela

In this episode, listeners will learn:

    • How small, well-meaning parenting habits (like fixing or stepping in too quickly) can unintentionally disconnect us from our kids
    • What kids actually need when they’re upset and why listening often matters more than solving
    • The subtle ways parents can cause kids to shut down without realizing it
    • Why giving kids space, while still being present, builds stronger trust and communication over time

In this episode of Mama, Let’s Talk, I sit down with my 12-year-old daughter, Olivia, for a conversation that feels equal parts humbling, eye-opening, and honestly… a little risky. We talk about the things kids don’t usually say out loud to their parents, but wish they could. From feeling “babied” to wanting space instead of solutions, Olivia gives a real, unfiltered look into how kids experience us as moms.

What stood out most to me wasn’t just what she said, but how simple it really is. Our kids aren’t asking for perfection. They’re not asking for the perfect response or the perfect parenting moment. They’re asking to feel heard, respected, and understood. This conversation reminded me that connection isn’t built in big speeches, it’s built in the quiet moments where we choose to listen a little longer and soften just enough to meet them where they are.

  • Ep 51: Note To Self: Not Every Conversation Needs A TED Talk

“Sometimes your kid doesn’t need a coach… they don’t need a strategy or a reframe, they just need their mom, sitting beside them, letting the moment be exactly what it is.” --Angela

In this episode, listeners will learn:

    • Why trying to “say the right thing” can unintentionally create distance instead of connection
    • How to recognize when you’re talking at your child instead of being with them
    • The importance of letting moments exist without turning them into lessons or takeaways
    • How slowing down and being present creates deeper, more meaningful connection than any perfect speech ever could

In this episode, I share one of those humbling motherhood moments that caught me completely off guard, the kind that stings a little before it softens into something meaningful. I walk you through a conversation with my daughter that I thought I absolutely nailed… until she gently handed me a mirror I didn’t even realize I needed. In that moment, I had to face the truth that what I thought was connection was actually me performing, teaching, and trying to “get it right” instead of just being present with her.

We dive into how easy it is to turn every moment into a lesson, especially when your heart is in the right place, and why not everything needs to be fixed, framed, or turned into growth right away. This episode is a reminder, for you and for me, that sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer our kids isn’t guidance… it’s presence. That the quiet, ordinary, in-between moments? Those are the ones that matter most.

About Apparently, We're Adults

We grew up thinking that by this age, we'd have everything figured out.
