Bet you didn't see this coming! We have been fans of French rap for years, and we're so excited to share some of our thoughts on this genre! French rap is characterized by atmospheric swells, crisp trap beats, melodic hooks, and the ever-present 'hype crew' in the background. Hip hop was exported to France from America back in the late 1980's, and France has since become Europe's leading producer of high-quality rap/trap music. Needless to say, it's far surpassed American rap in terms of quality, musicality, and ingenuity.
In this episode, we bring back Isaiah, our in-house French speaker, to help with pronunciation and offer some opinions of his own. The artists covered in this episode are PNL, RK, and Stromae--however, this barely scratches the surface of all the good music out there! We've created a French Rap playlist on Spotify to give credit to all the other artists we're fans of--check it out at the link below!
Today's Daily Shuffle(s) are Bene by PNL, Zone by RK, & C'est pas des LOL by Jul. Which one is your favorite??

We're back for Season 2 with more subjective opinions, nonsensical back stories and *most importantly* fantastic music to cover! It seemed fitting to kick off this season with our go-to artist for catchy dance music, feminist power, and eccentric bass lines. In this episode Jules and I cover why we love Sylvan Esso, all the new music that dropped while we were on hiatus, and some new releases we are looking forward to!
This episode includes:
Today's Daily Shuffle is HSKT by Sylvan Esso. Let us know your thoughts on this episode at [email protected] or on Instagram @applaudablepod. And if you like what you're hearing, please leave us a review on Apple podcasts!
Can you believe you've made it through an entire season of us rambling about music? We can't believe it either, but we've decided to take a *very brief* hiatus in the new year to get our act together and interview some great guests for Season 2! During this very short episode, Jules and I discuss the best album releases of 2020, and the releases we can't wait for in 2021!
If you have someone in mind that you'd like to see or hear about on a future episode, please let us know! Get in touch with us at [email protected], or @applaudablepod on Instagram! And yes, we promise to include more female artists in our interviews during this next season! #powertotheshe
Our Daily Shuffle is "Cola" by Arlo Parks. If you haven't listened to her music yet, definitely give this one a play and get pumped for her new album, dropping soon!!
Are you ready for another controversial episode? We're here to give you all the reasons why "Let's Go, Sunshine" is the *best* Kooks album out there. Disagree? Go listen to Pamela, and then we can talk. This gem of an episode includes:
Today's Daily Shuffle is "Chicken Bone" by the Kooks. We know you'll love this one as much as we do!

This episode is one for the books, folks! Hannah sat down with Dmitry Evgrafov--world-famous neo-classical composer and cofounder of the Endel app--to discuss music, robots, the future of neoclassical music, and everything in between! Dmitry was kind enough to allow us an inside peek into his musical influences, how the music for Endel is created, his thoughts on AI-generated music, and the one performance he will never forget.
Check out his latest album, Surrender, anywhere you listen to music. Definitely give it a listen--our favorite songs are "Sparkle" and "A Rural Song." You can download the Endel app here. I (Hannah) can't recommend this app highly enough! I downloaded it last month and I have been using it every single day to help me focus during work and improve my sleep.
Dmitry's pick for the Daily Shuffle is "Her Revolution" by Burial, Four Tet, and Thom Yorke. Go give it a listen!

Scrooges, make some noise! We've got a Christmas special for you! Jules and I discuss our favorite (and least favorite) Christmas albums, why we love vintage Christmas music, and our ULTIMATE Christmas wish list.
The Daily Shuffle for this episode is Christmas Lights by Coldplay. Let us know what your favorite Christmas song is by sending us an email at [email protected] or checking in with us on Instagram!
Today, Hannah is joined by her favorite brother and fellow Goulddigger, Isaiah! Together they discuss the first two and a half EG albums, aka the only ones you really need to listen to. Topics include:
Isaiah's Daily Shuffle pick is "Atlantis" by Ellie Goulding--give it a listen and let us know what you think! We'd love to hear from you, so send us a DM on Instagram (@applaudablepod), email ([email protected]) or leave us a review on Apple Podcasts! Your opinion means the world to us.
Stay groovy friends, and we'll see you on the flipside!
No, we're not talking about baby horses (although those are cool too). The band Foals makes some of the BEST alternative/indie rock out there, and as always, we have opinions about it! In this episode we cover:
Today's Daily Shuffle is Neptune (by Foals) or Milk and Black Spiders (also by Foals). We've got two because Jules and Hannah couldn't agree on just one (and also, one Foals song isn't enough).
