Monday, 22nd of June’20 (10:00 AM PDT) Apple WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) 2020 Keynote would take place as a big online show as far as I expect. There are major tech events got cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic like Google I/O.

Most of the companies do not have the required material or supply and workforce to launch their product in a timely fashion. It’s happening all around the world, however, some of the services in tech companies able to survive just because of the work nature which can be handled remotely. Hence, Work From Home (WFH) what these companies have been promoting already for a long time – ensuring their survival in this phase.

Despite the pandemic, Apple ensured the market that there won’t be a delay in their product line. Apple WWDC 2020 is expected to be a big digital event with great software upgrade announcements like iOS14, iPadOS 14, WatchOS 7, TvOS 14, etc. It’s not over yet, we have more products line up like Apple TV 4K, transitioning Mac from Intel to ARM, expected an upgrade in iMac too.

Announcing the software and releasing, it is manageable at some level. But when it comes to hardware like ARM Macs, Apple TV 4K, there are challenges Apple as a company has to level up with. Due to the lockdown in most of the countries around the globe, production and supply chain has faced serious damages would take a while to cover up. Apple’s major hub is Foxconn in terms of production, and it’s in China wherein this Pandemic started. However, Foxconn has started the production with the 50% workforce capacity – still meeting the deadlines would be a miracle at this stage.

Based on rumours, here is what all we can expect to be unveiled at WWDC 2020:

  • WatchOS 7
  • Updated Services for Apple News Plus, Apple Music
  • iOS 14
  • iPadOS 14
  • MacOS 10.16
  • ARM Macs
  • iMAC upgrade
  • Apple TV 4K
  • Apple AirTags
  • AirPods Studio
  • In the last couple of days, we have seen another spike of COVID-19 cases in China. it might be a call for another lock-down over there we don’t know. However, it’s Apple one of the biggest companies in the world, and they must have figured this all out at some level. Tim Cook took a step ahead in the direction, by decentralizing their production line and supply chain rather sticking to a single point failure which is Foxconn right now for many companies out there including Apple. There are talks shifting a noticeable share of the production to other countries like India to be future proof in a pandemic situation like this.
