Rivky sits down with Hindy Tauber, a woman who has been dealing with chronic illness since the age of 16. Hindy shares how she felt her life was over when got diagnosed, what it means to pursue a diagnosis and advocate for yourself in medicine, the decision to keep things a secret and how her diagnosis affected her self worth.
Hindy in her own words:
I have a very interesting life journey. In short; at age 16 I got extremely sick and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and I’ve been on that journey ever since. Then, at age 17 my parents separated. I was an extremely shy and scared to open up type of girl before I got sick, and throughout my journey I’ve learned to open up more and more. I have a lot to say on how that happened and why I did that work, but I’ve become so open that I now have a public Instagram page where I share my journey with chronic illness - a first in the chassidish/heimish community for sure, and a first for Crohn’s in the frum world.
