Most of us hear the word prophecy and immediately think in terms of prediction and fulfillment. This is one dimension of the prophetic role in scripture but not the whole picture. The Bible, like any communication, must be understood in context. But what does context mean? In this study, we consider how the historical, cultural, and literary context of a passage provides an essential ingredient to proper interpretation.

Dual authorship describes the nature of scripture as God’s very word, spoken through men. In this way, the Bible is both a divine book and a human book. This establishes the basis for single meaning.
