Seth Grossman explains how the Atlantic County Library did not accept his book, 1676 Project, until Dennis Levinson, the county executive of Atlantic County intervened. The book explains the important but rarely told story of how persecuted Quakers from England established a model government and society in South Jersey in 1676 that shaped the America. They were guided by Christian values including the "Golden Rule", the Enlightenment theories of government of John Locke and Algernon Sidney, and lessons learned from failures in the Virginia and Plymouth colonies. They gave Americans a high trust society with limited government, almost no taxes and boundless opportunities. They made South Jersey a place of "Liberty and Prosperity."
