Memorial Day began after the Civil War. It remembered the 350,000 young Americans who died to preserve our nation and free Blacks from slavery. Later, it remembered those in died in all our wars. There are two other holidays this weekend. Shavuot, the Jewish Pentecost celebrates the Ten Commandments. The Christian Pentecost recalls when the Disciples came out of hiding and taught the Gospel in every language.

The book explains the important but rarely told story of how persecuted Quakers from England established a model government and society in South Jersey in 1676 that shaped the America.
