• Jotham's curse against Abimelech and the citizens of Shechem is fulfilled. God administers the terms of His covenant with Israel by heaping His promised curses upon them. 
• However, God also honors the terms of His promised blessings. When Israel repents, God is grieved by the misery of His curses on the people He loves. Though our love for God wains for periods of time, God's love never fails.
