Statec published a report this week that revised its inflation forecasts to 6.6% for 2022 and 5.3% for 2023. In normal circumstances, workers in luxembvourg would have received a 3rd index rise in salaries this year – but because the 2nd one has already been deferred to 2023 already, and they are limited to one a year for the next two years, the unions are upset that the cost of living crisis is going to badly affect less well off workers and their families.

The Government has agreed to holding another Tripartite meeting with unions and employers to discuss a possible new course of action following the decision, however there is no specific date provisioned for this to happen yet. This will be decided after summer recess ends in September.

Today's guest on the Breakfast Show was Mirka Costanzi from MASKéNADA, who came by the studio to talk to Tom about the Audio Walks they've produced in the south of Luxembourg for the Esch2022 cultural programming.

Maskénada is an artists’ collective from Luxembourg, known for site-specific and multidisciplinary productions.

Since its foundation in 1995, as Luxembourg was European Capital of Culture, the association MASKéNADA has been devising innovative cultural projects, combining quality, popularity and experimentation, for the past 20 years.

Their latest project "E Roude Fuedem Duerch De Roude Buedem" (a red thread through the red earth)presents as an audio walk that traces the stories of female folklore characters in the south of Luxembourg. Participants can download an app, plug in their headphones and walk along the route of the walk whilst being guided by the voices of these Southern Heroines.
