Duncan Roberts from Delano joined Tom for Delano's Top Of The Week this morning. Up for discussion was the cost of living crisis and how the government's decision to delay the next salary indexation in Luxembourg will affect workers here.
Statec published a report this week that revised its inflation forecasts to 6.6% for 2022 and 5.3% for 2023. In normal circumstances, workers in luxembvourg would have received a 3rd index rise in salaries this year – but because the 2nd one has already been deferred to 2023 already, and they are limited to one a year for the next two years, the unions are upset that the cost of living crisis is going to badly affect less well off workers and their families.
The Government has agreed to holding another Tripartite meeting with unions and employers to discuss a possible new course of action following the decision, however there is no specific date provisioned for this to happen yet. This will be decided after summer recess ends in September.
Duncan's Event picks for this week were:
At Rotondes - Congés annulés continues
At Cinémathèque - Summer Nights films
E-lake Festival - Happening in Echternach next weekend.
His personal pick was a track by the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, "Lava Lamp Pisco" from new album Night Gnomes
