Casa Árabe is hosting the opening day of the KSGAAL Arabic Language Month, which is to include an awards ceremony for the contests held in the categories of calligraphy, storytelling and poetry, as well as a round table discussion on the challenges faced when teaching the Arabic language.
In order to mark the celebration of the King Salman Global Academy of the Arabic Language (KSGAAL)’s Arabic Language Month throughout April, Casa Árabe, in conjunction with the Academy, is organizing an inaugural conference at which the awards will be presented to the finalists in the competitions, along with a debate featuring experts and educators, who will be discussing the teaching of Arabic as a foreign language in Spain.
The event will be attended by Casa Árabe’s General Director, Miguel Moro Aguilar, and the Secretariat General of the King Salman Global Academy of the Arabic Language (KSGAAL), Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, accompanied by a delegation of representatives and experts from the Academy.
In addition to the awarding of prizes to the finalists in the calligraphy, storytelling and poetry contests, there will also be a round table discussion on “Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language: Challenges and realities,” with the participation of experts from the KSGAAL and Spanish universities, including Pedro Buendía Pérez, a full professor with the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), and Ignacio Gutiérrez de Terán, a professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), with moderation by Hatim Bouazza Touil, a professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC).
The purpose of Arabic Language Month is to promote and celebrate the wealth and diversity of the Arabic language through training sessions with teachers and students of Arabic, including visits and meetings with universities and centers of learning to create lines of cooperation and joint projects.
