How does a design department work? Every architecture firm has a design department. It is the foundation of all firms actually. Buildings are dreamt up within the department, money is made and the firm grows.

Who and what constitutes a design department? What makes the gears turn and keep producing work that needs to be exceptional for construction and for final use?

In this episode Victor and Kofi, introduce "The Design Department", an agency with a dynamic collective of architects, designers, and creative thinkers dedicated to exploring the intersection between design and the human condition.

Context is everything in design. The context of a place will look into the relationship between an environment and the buildings situated within it. A location's historical, cultural, physical and economic landscapes is the context in which when applied well, allows design for human use to thrive.

Housing is in short supply and one of the reasons you can say that is, is due to the current material we use to build.

In comes Geopolymer Interlocking Blocks which could make us build faster and more sustainably as it has less cement content. The interlocking blocks make it an interesting building material as you may not need a whole lot of expertise to put up a building. This might just save the housing crisis we are facing in Ghana and the world.

Project management int the AEC industry used to bug me for a while. I never got the need for project managers on a jobsite when an architect can perform the same role. Project managers in other industries on the other hand, I was all for it.
