This two-part commentary and part review of an article by Zach Mortice found at the AIA website (American Institute of Architecture), tells a story of the current phenomenon on disability access and inclusion practice by architects and provides insights on how architects still need to 'own the process' of designing for inclusion from the beginning or as part of the design and not an additive layer. 

Quote: "Disability occurs at the intersection of the person and their environment. Architecture, in all its forms, also occurs at the intersection of the person and their environment, making it a vital player in any evaluation of inclusion", says Valerie Fletcher.  

Thus, architecture = disability access, and is not an additional aspect to take into account later or a 'code burden'.
