Entrepreneurs are driven by contribution. The more successful we become, the more we want to contribute.
Many entrepreneurs who have successfully grown a company and experienced a level of success are motivated to do something on the side.
That passion project that calls to make a difference, share who we really are, inspire a movement, and provide value in a way different than we ever have. If you want your passion project to be successful, it must show a profit.
Most entrepreneurs avoid trying to understand what is going on in their team’s lives. It seems easier if we just don't get involved and the less we know the better. After all if we find out something is going on, won't they want us to help? Expect special treatment?
If we don't know what is going on in our teams lives, we are constantly exposed. I have always understood every executive I have had on a personal basis. And someone has understood where everyone in my organization is on a personal basis.
This way when someone had something going on, we were aware of it. We could plan around it. Sit down with them them and help them with perspectives. And make sure that they didn't miss in a way that effected our clients.
As an entrepreneur, part of what you do is determine what your company will spend it's money on. What do you need to buy in order to grow and make more profit?
You will soon have to buy things you know little or nothing about. You may try to become an expert in everything that your company needs to acquire. I know I did, it almost killed me.
I was so afraid of spending money in the wrong place that I obsessed over every dollar we spent and did far more research than I needed to.
Once I created a purchasing system, not only did things get easier, I had confidence in every decision I made.
As an entrepreneur you are going to experience far more pressure and noise than the average person. A normal day in our lives would put the average person into a sweaty panic.
You have an endless stream of things to react to and issues to deal with. You are growing your business, growing your team, and doing what you can to stay in momentum. None of us can do this alone, in order to grow your business you will need help. But you want a very specific type of help.
You want advisers to make you feel comfortable, calm, present and aware. You want to stay away from the advisers who excite you, get you "motivated" and have too many ideas.
Coming up with the ideas is your job, being grounded and making your life easier is the mission of everyone of your advisers.
You don't want to build the company where everyone belongs. In fact, that would be a disaster. You want to build a polarizing company with a clear culture that either drives people towards you or drives them away.
The reason why so many entrepreneurs have trouble building teams is that they hire first for skill and then for cultural fit - if they consider a cultural fit at all.
If someone doesn't fit your culture, it doesn't matter what skill level they have, it isn't going to work.
Social media has been very good for the private jet industry. Spend a few minutes on Facebook and you will encounter a lot of people flying in private jets. Speakers, authors, thought leaders And CEOs are flying private in record numbers.
This is a decision that Cadey and I have been talking about for years. We have set an internal goal for our company, and once we get it, we are going to start flying private a lot of the time.
I recorded this podcast to share with you how much has gone into making this decision, before you make it for yourself.
When I was younger, I read hundreds of personal development books. If you could send them all up with one thing, it would be…
If you want massive success in your life, create congruency and alignment and everything around you will start moving fast.
The problem I had when I was younger is that while many books share the concept of congruency, very few shared tactics. This became an obsession of mine. What are the tactics that will help create congruency and alignment for entrepreneurs 100% of the time?
I didn't focus on everyone, instead I focused exclusively on the Entrepreneurial Personality Type. I asked the question over and over again “how can evolutionary hunters like us create massive congruency and momentum?”
The result was a holistic approach to working with entrepreneurs. I realized that when we focus on improving our lives in all areas, congruency starts to create itself.
In this short message I received from a client of ours, Isla Books, she eloquently and clearly described what it feels like when you achieve congruency and momentum that comes with it.
I'm sure you will be as inspired by her as I am.
Over 90% of entrepreneurs never build a team. There is a reason..
Asking for help is one of the hardest things for people like us to do.
We have all been on a team, or tried to do the project with other people that failed because no one would work as hard as we did.
Everyone of us has asked for help and then been let down. Some of us, myself included, have had a hard time understanding how to even access help growing up.
All of this leads to difficulty in building a team, and becoming a transformational leader. Once we understand this difficulty and realize that if we are vulnerable with our team, they can actually help us when we need it the most and everything gets easier.
Albert Einstein said compound interest is the most powerful force in the universe. It either works for you or against you, and far too many entrepreneurs have it working against them.
There is a psychic energy to debt and an affect on our ability to think clearly, make rational decisions, and create our future.
We have no idea how deeply and dramatically it is affecting us until we are out of it.
Far too many entrepreneurs think that it's working for them when in reality, it can cause more pressure and noise than just about anything else.
If you are ready to show up in a different way, have a new level of confidence in the world, and know what you are really capable of, eliminate your debt and everything will change.
Evolutionary hunters are physiologically sensitive momentum based beings and we are highly sensitive to constraint. This is the reason that I always start any coaching relationship with a conversation about water. Water is the ultimate performance enhancer because it doesn't matter what you eat, what supplements you take, or how well you take care of yourself, if you aren't hydrated you aren't optimized.
Even if you have tried to drink more water and have found it difficult, once you reawaken your Natural Thirst, you will drink more water than you ever thought possible.
