Mobile Bay National Estuary Program
Last week the MBNEP unveiled two ADA-wheelchair compliant beach pads/paths that allow people with physical differences to reach the beach near the water easily, on the Western End of Dauphin Island.
This allows wheelchair-bound and other differently-abled beachgoers accessing the Gulf beach on their own there for the first time.
2 separate hurricanes pushed back the original dates and they held their event the Friday, before Mother’s Day!!
This project made possible in coordination with the Krewe of Kindness (a coastal Alabama disability-affirming organization) and the Town of Dauphin Island.
We also discuss how federal dollars are used to keep our watersheds up and running, there are more than 25+, our waters, what people need to do before building a home on the water and the importance of the ecosystem.
