A series of sound clips that take you closer to the creations of Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2022. Listen to Lia Rodrigues talk about her creation, 'Encantado'.

EN - A carpet of variegated fabrics is slowly unrolled on stage, opening up a kaleidoscope of colours. Thus begins 'Encantado', the new and highly anticipated creation by Lia Rodrigues. With Covid-19 impacting particularly heavily on Brazil, the choreographer asked herself how we could “enchant our fears” in order to recreate a collective dynamic and bring individuals closer together. 'Encantado' is a mesmerising choreography for 11 dancers and countless fabrics, in which these forces – similar to the encantados – journey from one body to the other.

FR - Un tapis de tissus bigarrés est lentement déroulé sur scène, ouvrant un kaléidoscope de couleurs. C’est ainsi que commence Encantado, la nouvelle création très attendue de Lia Rodrigues. La production porte les marques du contexte dans lequel elle a été créée : tandis que la Covid-19 touchait violemment le Brésil, la chorégraphe s’est demandée comment « enchanter nos peurs » afin de recréer une dynamique collective et rapprocher les individus. Encantado est une chorégraphie envoûtante pour onze danseur·ses et d’innombrables tissus, dans laquelle ces forces – comme les encantados – voyagent d’un corps à l’autre.

Een tapijt, geweven uit verschillende stoffen, wordt langzaam uitgerold op het podium. Er komt een kaleidoscoop aan kleuren tevoorschijn. Zo begint Encantado, de nieuwe en langverwachte creatie van Lia Rodrigues. In Brazilië heeft het woord “encantado” verscheidene betekenissen. Het kan een synoniem zijn voor verwondering, of verwijzen naar de effecten van een betovering. Terwijl COVID-19 Brazilië bijzonder hard trof vroeg de choreografe zich af hoe we “onze angsten kunnen betoveren” om zo opnieuw een collectieve dynamiek te creëren en mensen dichter bij elkaar te brengen. Encantado is een fascinerende choreografie voor elf dansers en talloze stukken textiel, waarin krachten vergelijkbaar met de encantados reizen van het ene lichaam naar het andere.
