Hash It Out

Are Prisons Obsolete?: a perspective from a reformist and abolitionist

Listen Later

Judith and Courtney (Elizabeth) sit down at the beginning of the semester to chat about prisons. As Angela Davis asked, are prisons obsolete? Do prisons function in our society as intended? Judith, a prison reformist, and Elizabeth, a prison abolitionist, have a conversation about their opposing viewpoints.
As usual, we prepared a list of resources we consulted, plus some background reading and further research you could do to understand the issue more thoroughly. Check the link here: https://goo.gl/gE47aj
Thanks for tuning in! Continue the conversation on our Facebook page “Social Justice Education (IUPUI),” on Twitter and Instagram @sjed_iupui, or using our hashtag, #HashItOutIUPUI. Keep an eye on those as well to see #HashyTravels!
