There is deliverance; then there is freedom. Just because we left it does not mean IT left us! Just because we left or don’t do that anymore doesn’t mean it’s gone! Sometimes we are just too old, too tired, or just lack opportunity. The Hebrews teach us one key lesson about deliverance: a miracle outside does not declare a miracle inside. Freedom is different. Only the abiding presence of Christ in us sets us free. Deliverance brings us from yesterday to now. But freedom is the power to move in Christ from now to next! Free is the power to never be Adam and not simply know the truth but choose it. Freedom works inside out! Our freedom in Christ is not only about escaping sin’s penalty; free is about living a transformed life that pleases God and brings Him glory. We can be delivered from many different things.
