I was on my way to a networking event and I got a call. It turned out the call was from my husband. He reminded me my daughters shoes were in the car, and she needed them for daycare.   

Was I going to make it to this networking event on time now? No, I wasn't.   

So I had two options. Do I go turn up late, or do I just call it and do something else with those three hours?  

And so I made the call. I didn't go, but what I did differently to what I would normally do taught me a lesson I think is really valuable.  

The biggest lesson that I got from it was how fast I can shift my thinking in terms of, okay, that didn't work. I'm not going to spend any time on that. I'm not going to shame myself for not making it to that networking event.  

I'm going to move on..
