  • Episode 6 Part 2: Life After Loss Due to Miscarriage
You've conceived be it planned or unplanned! You finally come to the realization that your life is about to change and so the anticipation sets in and you begin to wonder.... Only for it to be short lived due to loss as a result of miscarriage. Is it ok to feel such immeasurable grief? How do you even begin the grieving process? How do you talk to others about the loss? Will those you confide in get it? For those who serve as the support system learn what not to say and how to better show up because trust me the grief and sense of loss is very real and the grief process must happen in order for the healing to occur. Listen as my guest AngelaSheree’@theeverevolvingpodcast share her experience following her miscarriage. I wanted a male perspective on grief so listen as my guest Derryl Bohanna share his grief in the loss of his daughter due to stillbirth. #grief#loss#therapy#healing

  • Infertility-You Don’t Have to Suffer In Silence!
Tune-in as I discuss infertility and its impact on ones emotional well-being. It’s estimated that black women are twice as likely to experience infertility as their counterparts but half or less actually seek medical intervention. There’s a silence amongst black women when it’s comes to the inability to conceive often leaving the woman/couple feeling alone. Listen as I explore just what is infertility and how to navigate the waters. It’s my desire that we break the silence. Infertility is mentally and physically draining and to suffer in silence should not be. We don’t let our friends suffer while enduring other challenges and it’s time to do the same with infertility.

  • Surviving Prostate Cancer with Guest Speaker, Mr. Johnny Davis.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in African American men. But nearly 97% of African American men have a 5 year or more survival rate if they are diagnosed early. So, prostate cancer is survivable by ensuring yearly screening which includes a blood test; PSA and a prostate exam. These two screening items allows the healthcare provider to diagnose and treat the cancer early. Early detention will allow for greater treatment options, less side effects and more importantly survival! If you are experiencing the following please seek medical advice and know that these symptoms are not just associated with prostate cancer. However, they should be addressed by your healthcare provider. Symptoms of prostate cancer may include the following: problems urinating, including a slow or weak urination stream. Frequent urination especially at night, blood in urine and or semen, trouble getting an erection, loss of bladder or bowel control. Pain in hips, back, or chest or other areas from cancer that has spread to the bones. Should you not have resources please check-out the provided links below or @arealnursepodcast. No one wants to hear the “C” word but prostate cancer is treatable and you do not have to die from this cancer. Don’t forget to subscribe, like and share @ Arealnursepodcast.
