On the Eve of Arizona Beer Week, Rob sat down with David DeLorenzo, aka The Delo, to discuss some of the business and legal issues surrounding liquor liabilty for the hospitality industry. With few insurance carriers in the state, the state of coverage for our bars, restaurants and breweries is in a beleaguered state. In many cases, it's like our supply chain system in that no one takes notice unless there's a problem.  The Delo, though not an alcohol consumer, really enjoys the craft industry from its people to our businesses. A frequent festival goer, Delo, explains how he sees our culture. Just like the meme suggests, Delo cares! Andrew was on assignment (the SBF). We'll catch up with him next week. The Guild was invited to the Arizona Heritage Center to celebrate the opening of Rebuilding Home Plate. The exhibit tells the stories of Japanese Americans who were stripped of their constitutional rights during World War II and how “America’s Pastime” was a means of enduring and escaping their imprisonment.

We're joined by Guild Counsel, Camila Alarcon, an 11 year veteran as a liquor attorney and lobbyist representing Arizona breweries. We discuss the Guild's legislative philosophy, the importance of having good relations with industry stakeholders, regulatory agencies. Camila illustrates the nuances of Title IV liquor law by clarifying the statutes and the administrative rules that determine enformcement.

The bill-to-law process, negotiation, and the changes that a new legislature, governot and department director are covered during our brief hour show. We kick things off with some M&A news with a local distributor with Ken Wilson of Lumberyard Brewing Co. We also briefly discuss that we have a new DLLC Director. All of this is tied to the inaguration of a new governor and new state officers. Rob relays his thoughts on the transition and his char with SOS Fontes about getting a liquor license back at the State Capitol, the Don Bolles Memorial Bill. Last weekend was also Arizona's Women's Collaboration at The Shop Beer Co. and we talk about the benefit and important underpinnings of these types of get-togethers.
