Washington Nationals pitcher SEAN DOOLITTLE posted a long list of concerns on Twitter. He said he WANTS to get back out there, but if there's no vaccine, he'd like to make sure it's safe for everyone. Here are five questions he wants answered . . .
Are there enough tests? Think about all the people involved. Even without fans, you've got the players, coaches, umpires, camera crews, security guards, the grounds crew, and more. Will they all be tested every day? Is that even possible? And is it ETHICAL when so many other people still can't get tested?
We still don't know the long-term health effects of the virus, and what they could do to an athlete's career. He cited studies that show even with mild cases, things like lung scaring, blood clots, strokes, liver damage, and fertility issues are possible.
It's easier to catch the virus in confined spaces. So will they modify dugouts and locker rooms to make them safer?
What if there's a second wave in a few months? Would they cut the season short?
If someone tests positive, what's the protocol? Would they just have to shut it all down again? And what about players or coaches with pre-existing conditions?
