In Louisiana, women face a hidden but devastating threat—violence. The Pelican State ranks among the highest in the nation for women killed in homicides. Many of these cases are tied to domestic violence, and the statistics paint a troubling picture: year after year, Louisiana consistently ranks in the top five states for women murdered by men, often by someone they know.

That reality has hit hard here in Shreveport, where headlines have revealed case after case of women’s lives cut short. In this episode, we take a closer look at those tragedies—and the broader trend that’s putting women across Louisiana at risk.

Since 2017, the Citizen app has connected millions of Americans to real time information about crime and threats happening in their communities.  The app recently expanded coverage to include Caddo Parish, one of eight new locations across the country. An American serial killer in the heart of Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood. Between 1984 and 1987 Nathaniel Code was connected to as many eight murders, including the July 1985 murders of the Cheney-Culbert family.  Former Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Scott Crichton was the lead prosecutor in the case.  Crichton reflects on the emotional and mental toll the case and trial had on him. 

After the escape of 10 inmates from a New Orleans jail in mid-May, the nationwide manhunt continues to find the remaining two who are still on the run after nearly a month. Thursday marks 3 weeks since the jailbreak. Retired FBI Special Agent Michael Anderson provides insight into the approach and law enforcement's game plan to apprehend the remaining suspects and the clues that are aiding in their search. 

More than three years since the April 2022 disappearance of Ischmael Carter, family and friends continue to search for him. Investigators say foul play is likely involved in his disappearance, but they need evidence to help make an arrest in the case. Shreveport PD Public Information Officer, Cpl. Chris Bordelon updates on the case, and the factors behind his disappearance. 

More than 30 years since Kelly Wilson was last seen in the tiny town of Gilmer, Texas her disappearance is still one of the most unsolved mysteries in the state of Texas. In this episode we revisit the case, and speak with her father Robbie about new efforts to keep the case alive. 

On May 16, 1970 the Northwest Louisiana Crime Lab was established to provide services to law enforcement to nine parishes in NW Louisiana. 

55 years later, the lab has been tasked with helping to solve thousands of cases from law enforcement officials in 29 parishes.
