In Louisiana, women face a hidden but devastating threat—violence. The Pelican State ranks among the highest in the nation for women killed in homicides. Many of these cases are tied to domestic violence, and the statistics paint a troubling picture: year after year, Louisiana consistently ranks in the top five states for women murdered by men, often by someone they know.

That reality has hit hard here in Shreveport, where headlines have revealed case after case of women’s lives cut short. In this episode, we take a closer look at those tragedies—and the broader trend that’s putting women across Louisiana at risk.

An American serial killer in the heart of Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood. Between 1984 and 1987 Nathaniel Code was connected to as many eight murders, including the July 1985 murders of the Cheney-Culbert family.  Former Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Scott Crichton was the lead prosecutor in the case.  Crichton reflects on the emotional and mental toll the case and trial had on him.
