The 2 month deployment of the army in some crime hotspots in Cape Town comes to an end today. In July Police Minister Bheki Cele announced that soldiers would be deployed to the streets of townships in the mother city following a series of gang related murders. It still remains unclear if an extension will be granted to allow the SANDF to stay longer.
