Ugarte is a long-time South Central resident, as I mentioned, and LA city government council aide. He began his political career organizing for the LA County Federation of Labor, and went on to work for President Obama’s Nevada campaign. He recently ended his role as Curren Price’s Deputy Chief of Staff. Ugarte helped establish LAPD’s Community Safety Partnership Program, encouraging police-community collaboration in South Park. He’s also worked on development projects such as the Coliseum's renovation and the new Lucas Narrative Museum of Art.
