-Earned a degree in electronic engineering
-Started Barker Business Machines in 1991
office equipment and electronic salvage
-Reopened the business in 2007
Salvage only and went full.time in 2009 a long electronics on line.
-Started hiring people in 2010 and moved from industrial electronics to retail on line in 2012
-Opened a brick and mortar location in 2013
-In 2015 we became a million dollar.compay!
And working to be a multi million dollar company in the next two years.

EPISODE SUMMARY
In this episode Joy Caffrey, Christi Daniels, and Wendy Love Edge visit with Sonia Gutiérrez, founder of New Design School, Easel, and CEO of 501c3 Design and NDS Press. In 2018 she became Fayetteville Arkansas’ first Latina City Council Member.
Her bio:
Sonia Gutiérrez completed a Bachelor of Science in microbiology in 1996, and a Bachelor of Art in graphic design in 1998, from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. While an undergraduate, she studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain and attended the Universidad de Salamanca to study art history and graphic design with a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. In 2002, she completed a Master of Fine Art in Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design in New York, New York. In 2003, she returned to Fayetteville and founded New Design School in 2006 and Atelier NDS in 2007. In May 2009, she was invited by Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan to lead the Creative Economy Action Group. Today, she practices graphic design and web design in her roles as founder and CEO of 501c3 Design and NDS Press. She teaches graphic design at Northwest Arkansas Community College. She just recently founded the company Easel, which like an easel, provides a three-legged foundation of sales, operations and finance to bolster a creative’s products or services. Sonia can also be found spinning tracks as DJ SQS. Sonia Gutiérrez became the first Latina elected to the Fayetteville City Council in 2018 and currently serves as a Council Member representative for Ward 1.

In this episode Joy Caffrey, Christi Daniels, and Wendy Love Edge visit with Patti Steel, a woman who embodies creativity in many forms.

BIO - Patti Steel is an eccentric multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter. She plays clarinet, mandolin, guitar, bass guitar, spoons, washboard, tambourine, kazoo, slide whistle, train whistle, nose flute, flute, bassoon among many others. She is always willing to learn more too. Not only does she play many instruments, Patti also sings harmonies and lead vocals in many projects. Don't be surprised if she ends up in your jam sessions, it is her biggest passion just playing music for the soul. Originally, she is from SW Missouri but now resides in NW Arkansas in the heart of the Ozarks.
Recently, Patti Steel has started writing and co-writing music to start performing solo or in smaller more intimate projects. She brings to the table a huge spectrum of genres from her 20+ years playing music in so many projects/bands. It spans from folk, bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock and country. Her hunger for music is insatiable and shows when she performs. She grew up around music and has played and supported music since she was very young.
Currently performing regularly with: The Trashcan Bandits, Steel Skye, Skye Pollard, Chucky Waggs and the Company of Raggs, Johai Kafa, Honey Shuffle, The Honey's, Randall Shreve and the DeVilles and many more....
Patti also has a BA in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and Print Media as well as a MA in Communication with an emphasis in Documentary Photojournalism. She’s also an established award-winning freelance photographer.
