  • The Daily Mess Do Authors Have Favorite Pens And Why Do We Say Hello On The Smartphone

    I’m always asking
questions.  The fun begins when you start
    researching for answers. Such as…
    Do writer’s and authors
have favorite pens?  What’s their go to
when it comes to getting the story out?
Plus why do we start a phone conversation with, “Hello.”
I’m Arroe…  I am a daily writer.  A silent wolf.  I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but
    watch, listen study then activate.
I call it The Daily Mess.  A
chronological walk through an everyday world.
Yes, it’s my morning writing.  As a
receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and
    deal with it later.
When a subject arrives, I dig in.
It’s still keeping a journal!  By
doing the research the picture becomes clearer.
    This is the Daily Mess…

  • National Anthem How Taylor Swift Reinvented Pop Music From RollingStone's Rob Sheffield

An intimate look at the life and music of modern pop's most legendary figure, Taylor Swift, from leading music journalist Rob Sheffield.

A cultural phenomenon. A worldwide obsession. An agent of emotional chaos. There's no parallel to Taylor Swift in history: a teenage girl who turns into the world's favorite pop star, songwriter, storyteller, guitar hero, live performer, changing how music is made and heard. An all-time great on the level of The Beatles, Prince, or David Bowie.

Heartbreak Is the National Anthem: How Taylor Swift Reinvented Pop Music is the first book that goes deep on the musical and cultural impact of Taylor Swift. Nobody can tell the story like Rob Sheffield, the bestselling and award-winning author of Dreaming the Beatles, On Bowie, and Love Is a Mix Tape. The legendary Rolling Stone journalist is the writer who has chronicled Taylor for every step of her long career, from her early days to the Eras Tour. Sheffield gets right to the heart of Swift and her music, her lyrics, her fan connection, her raw power.

At once one of the most beloved music figures of the past two decades and one of the most criticized, Taylor Swift is known as much for her life beyond her music as she is for her hits-the most public of stars, yet also the weirdest and most mysterious. In the tradition of Sheffield's Dreaming the Beatles, Heartbreak Is the National Anthem will inform and delight a legion of fans who hang on every word from Taylor and every word Rob writes on her.

  • She's The Eye In The Sky At The Macy's Day Parade E A Kahane Releases Come Join The Parade

''The parade is a wonderful holiday gift to the 3.5 million people who witness it firsthand, as well as the 30 million television viewers worldwide. I feel so lucky that I get to be 'inside' the parade each year, that my dream of living along the route came true.'' - E.A. KAHANE

For over 25 years, New Yorker E.A. KAHANE has photographed the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade from her third-floor apartment window on Central Park West at 64th Street. From this special vantage point, Kahane is able to capture with her camera an unrestricted view of the parade as it passes by her window. Her bold and beautiful images document every aspect of the festivities, including the clowns, Broadway stars, floats, marching bands, cheerleaders, cheering spectators, and the biggest stars of them all - the larger-than-life balloons of our favorite characters from TV and film.

This fall, just in time for the holidays, Kahane's joyous photographs will be published in book form in Come Join the Parade! (October 15, 2024). She describes the exquisitely designed book as her very own "Miracle on 64th Street" and a book for all ages."

Starting on the Upper West Side at 77th and Central Park West, the legendary parade travels down to 6th Ave and 34th Street entertaining a televised and real time audience for the 2.5-mile journey. Come Join the Parade! is Kahane's singular vision of this beloved annual event, and her passion and unbridled enthusiasm is revealed with every page turn.

In her essay for the book, Kahane gives insight into her process, sharing, "I never check the parade lineup in advance. I prefer to be surprised. Every year it feels like I'm experiencing the parade for the first time."

Placed throughout the book are fun DID YOU KNOW? facts about the parade. One such fact is about Tony Sarg, a German immigrant, Macy's employee, and master puppeteer, who helped design the first Macy's parade. Sarg created the first feline balloon, Felix the Cat, which was produced by Goodyear Tire & Rubber, and collaborated with a young Walt Disney in 1934 to create the first Mickey Mouse balloon. Big balloons became an integral part of the parade in 1927 in partnership with Goodyear and have since become pop-culture icons.

  • Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey Director Joe Berlinger Takes Us Deeper Into The Cold Case On Netflix

On December 26, 1996, John and Patsy Ramsey woke up the morning after a loving family Christmas to discover their youngest child, six-year-old JonBenét, was missing, a chilling ransom note left downstairs. Later that day, John Ramsey discovered his daughter's body in the basement, revealing the shocking truth that JonBenét had not been kidnapped, but was instead sexually assaulted and brutally murdered in their own home. The Boulder, Colorado police, who had little practical experience in homicide investigations, quickly cast suspicion on JonBenét's family as the most likely suspects, fanning the flames of media scrutiny and largely one-sided reporting, turning the case into a national obsession. Twenty-eight years later, that obsession - and finger-pointing - hasn't gone away, and the murder of JonBenét Ramsey remains unsolved. From Emmy-winning and Academy Award nominated director Joe Berlinger, this three-part docuseries investigates the mishandling of the case by law enforcement and the media.
