  • The Daily Mess Facing Your Scruples

    September 26, 2023

    Scruples.  A

feeling of doubt or hesitation.  I used
it in a sentence this morning, “I need to get my scruples together.”  My wife had never heard of the word.  We all have feelings of doubt and face
multiple chapters of hesitation.  It has
a name!  We allow our modern selves to
fall into these moments then attempt to wash them away through surfing the web
    or binge watching television.  Daily
writing helps me get my scruples together.

  • Pod Crashing Episode 273 Anney And Samantha McVey From Stuff Mom Never Told You

Pod Crashing Episode 273 With Anney Reese And Samantha McVey

From Stuff Mom Never Told You

    The

concept of feminism has evolved and changed so much over the last few decades
that it can be confusing for people to keep up. Luckily, Anney Reese and
Samantha McVey break it all down every week on their popular iHeart podcast, Stuff
    Mom Never Told You.

     In

this book-their first-they explore the history, strategy, and emotion that went
into several milestones and emergent issues of the recent feminist movement.
Starting with Billie Jean King's famous "Battle of the Sexes" tennis
match, they also talk about the Civil Rights movement and the women who helped
shape it; the disturbing prevalence of major backlogs in rape kit testing; how
LGBTQ rights and women's right intersect; and how women have been critical to
the advancement of disability rights, and more.

    Written

with a sharp tongue, an infectious curiosity, and a deeply empathetic voice,
Reese and McVey show the true breadth of what feminism can stand for, what it
can achieve, and whom it can help lift up.

     Anney

Reese and Samantha McVey are the cohosts of iHeart Media's hit podcast
"Stuff Mom Never Told You." They live in Atlanta.

  • Dr Afton L Hassett Chronic Pain Reset

    Chronic

pain affects nearly 50 million people in the U.S. alone. A recent study
in a Journal of the American Medical Association showed that new cases
of chronic pain occur even more frequently than new cases of diabetes,
hypertension, and depression.  Many people are surprised to discover the
most effective treatment for chronic pain involves a multipronged
approach including pain self-management, that allows patients to
function more effectively – but it takes time to learn the activities
and time to practice the skills.

Chronic Pain Reset: 30 Days of Activities, Practices, and Skills to Help You Thrive (Countryman Press, September 5, 2023)

small, simple actions can make profound changes in how you experience
chronic pain.  Chronic Pain Reset is written for people with
chronic pain and those who care for them by an expert in the field of
clinical pain research, Dr. Afton Hassett. This guide will help you

  • The Daily Mess Common Sense

    September 25, 2023

The development of common sense.  It’s a human thing right? No so much!  Between 1775 and 1776 Thomas Paine penned out

a 47 page pamphlet call Common Sense.  Its
purpose was to advocate the independence from Great Britain to the people of
the 13 colonies.  Could these pages be
used in our political nightmare of a lifestyle?
It’s about freeing the people and believing in why you want to be
free.  Common Sense!  Because we continue to choose to not leave
notes for our future generations, it might be out of common sense that you
    begin.  What you’re experiencing today
could have an impact on their decision making just like Thomas Paine and his
    pamphlet.
