It was the early morning hours of Palm Sunday 2003, residents and guests at 64 E. 17th Avenue were settling down for bed after enjoying the evening celebrating a 21st birthday. Without warning, smoke and fire ripped through the three-story house, leaving three people severely injured and five people dead. Investigators would determine that fire was not accidental and been purposely set.
