Gauguin was a struggling painter, and the reason Van Gogh cut off his ear. Gauguin spent most of his career in destitution. It wasn't until an exhibition of his works, three years after his death, that he became a part of the fabric of artistic history and went on to influence a generation of artists.

William Blake was a poet and a painter. He spent his life communing with spirits, who influenced the creation of his works. He lived a humble and spiritual life, but left behind a great legacy that influences England to this day.
