Hi everyone. For the 25th of September show, we had Anthony Byrt in studio talking about his new book "This Model World: Travels to the Edge of Contemporary Art." The book is a personal account of his interactions with artists and experiences as an art critic, largely focusing on giving new insights in to the practices of well-known New Zealand artists. He shared some good anecdotes from studio visits to artists around the country. We quizzed him a bit about the choice of artists that he included. Also on the show, we talked about the sad passing of the Inuit artist Annie Pootoogook, who died earlier in the week. Her life and art was laced with creativity and despair, and highlighted the uneasy relationship between indigenous communities and the global art world.
