Hi all! This week we talked to Jem Noble out at Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts, where his exhibition Dream Dialects is on right now. We also had Dan Nash in studio to talk about his recent works at RM Gallery (QwhatdoesabordercolleyeatAluckilyfinepowder) and Artspace - as part of the exhibition "Potentially Yours, The Coming Community." Plus great tunes, and an acknowledgment of Marti Friedlander's passing on the 14th of November.

Edith Amituanai was in studio, talking about her latest exhibition, a series of photographs displayed on billboards and bus shelters in Henderson and Avondale. The opening involved a train journey from Henderson to All Goods Gallery in Avondale, with musicians playing in the carriage. We also talked to Rose Theunissen about her abstracted landsacpe paintings on display at North Art Gallery, in Northcote

Hi. This week we had Balamohan Shingade in studio, talking about Isobel Thom's latest show, titled "ILK", at Malcolm Smith Gallery. It incorporates her visions for a new studio, something Balamohan suggests might be a "complete artwork". Tom also talks to Callum Devlin, part of "Meanwhile Gallery", one the new artist run spaces that have popped up in Wellington recently. Tunes by Lonnie Donegan, Pulp, Diana Tribute and Womb. Artbank presents BLOODBANK!! It is our inaugural, freaky as, Halloween show, and its brimming with scary content. Featuring ghost stories from pals of the show Bridget Riggir, Robin Murphy, and one from host Theo. Plus some super haunting readings by Brittany French and Owen Connors. Tom wrangles an exclusive interview with the Grim Reaper, and they discuss the history of the "Danse Macabre" motif in art and music. Plus heaps of scary music. ARRRRGHHHHHH!!

This week we had Charlotte Drayton in studio, talking about her latest architectural intervention - a series of arches as part of the New Perspectives show at Artspace. They are reminiscent of a certain era of faux-Mediterranean architecture that popped up in New Zealand a fair few decades ago, architecture that is now quite damp. Also, Theo interviewed Levi Brinsdon-Hall who is learning about perma-cultural farming in Eastern Europe. Tunes by Elton John, Louis Armstrong and Bjork.

Hi. This week we talked to Faith Wilson, whose 'Open Letter to Simon Denny', caused a stir at the recent 'New Perspectives' Show at Artspace. She breaks down some of the thoughts she had in putting together this multifaceted work, which questioned/criticised the show's curator, and the [art]world he represents. We also replayed Celeste Oram's mini-documentary on the early NZ radio composer/sonic genius Vera Wyse Munro. Plus a glass-artist called up the studio from ponsonby central, and told us about a new, slightly charitable platform for selling art!

This week the all-wahine tattoo crew Karanga Ink was in studio. Pip Hartley and Tyla Vaeau Ta'ufo'ou discussed the traditional tā moko and tatau influences, and contemporary ones, that go into their designs. Karanga Ink also hosts Ki gallery, a space for Maori and Pacific art as well as indigenous art from around the world. Tom also talked to Emma Jameson, assistant curator at the Auckland City Art Gallery. Her new exhibition of Frederich Leightons illustrations of George Eliot's writing Is now on. Such Illustrations have traditionally been viewed and treated as “craft” as opposed to art objects in their own right – an issue much debated in the 19th century with the rise in popularity of illustrations.

Malo everyone. It was a show of two halves today. Theo spoke to Ivan Mršić, the interdisciplinary artist, percussionist, composer and improviser. His Kakokarangaphonia Orchestra open for anyone to participate in, and will meet and play together for the first time from 12pm - 1pm, 15 October 2016. It is part of the "Share/Cheat/Unite" show on at Te Tuhi right now. In the second half of the show Tom talked to Vaimaila Urale about life, death, ASCII art, and traditional Samoan craft; all things that have shaped her work. Her show "Embed", at Sanderson Gallery kicks off on the 11th of October as part of Art Week.

Hi everyone. For the 25th of September show, we had Anthony Byrt in studio talking about his new book "This Model World: Travels to the Edge of Contemporary Art." The book is a personal account of his interactions with artists and experiences as an art critic, largely focusing on giving new insights in to the practices of well-known New Zealand artists. He shared some good anecdotes from studio visits to artists around the country. We quizzed him a bit about the choice of artists that he included. Also on the show, we talked about the sad passing of the Inuit artist Annie Pootoogook, who died earlier in the week. Her life and art was laced with creativity and despair, and highlighted the uneasy relationship between indigenous communities and the global art world.

What's up Artbankers?! Last week we wrangled quick interview with Seagar's Walters Prize winner Ayesha Green. Theo also talked to Laura Williams, and they discussed her painting practice and life. Tom talked to Steven Park about observing the world of fashion in Paris and about crafting his own garments under the 6x4 label. We also presented the latest art news and gave the weekly listing of shows.
